Jack Dykinga: ‚Water Shamrocks‘
This picture, and its twin ‚Acadia Lily Pads‘, connect the viewer to Claude Monet's "Water Lilies". Here, as there, the artist focusses on a section and not on the whole scenery. Here, as there, the sky is reflected on water, showing only indirectly its presence. And here, as there, the artist’s special treatment of colors loosens the composition. The colors are broken down in single nuances, therefore many changing tones are present in the same picture. Claude Monet represented his perception of light with a shimmering mosaic of colors. Jack Dykinga achieves the same effect with his conception of light and color.
“Water in the desert context is both life and a mirror to the sapphire sky. Artistically it is interesting for me to work with that wonderful interchange of the Earthly land forms and vegetation juxtaposed floating in surface tension of water. Large format film photography has provided me the tools and technique to capture simultaneously the reflections and suspension.” (Jack Dykinga, talking about his body of work ‘Life in the Mirror’, to which this picture belongs).
THE BODY OF WORK: LIFE IN THE MIRROR BY JACK DYKINGA
Water in the desert context is both: life and a mirror to the sapphire sky. Here Jack Dykinga is artistically working with that wonderful interchange of earthly land forms and vegetation juxtaposed floating in surface tension of water. The reflection and suspension effects that result when earth and sky play together in water is a topic which fascinates Dykinga for a long.
He is dealing with the subject ‘Survival’ since decades, politically, aesthetically and as a humanist. This body of work represents a very special analysis on this topic and create works of opulent and shiny beauty. It is hard to believe that these pictures have been made in the desert, where life is so fragile.
THE ARTIST: JACK DYKINGA
Pulitzer Prize (1971 Feature Photography) winning photographer Jack Dykinga blends fine art photography with documentary photojournalism and is in both genres one of the most important photographers of the world. His work represents a beautiful manifestation of how to connect ones eyes to the heart. “I try to let my image speak for the land”, says Jack Dykinga meaning the wilderness, that in so many cases is threatened by what we call ‘development’. For Dykinga ‘art’ has to cover both sides: politics and aesthetics.
PHOTOGRAPHY BASED ART. IN MUSEUM QUALITY.
The Art of Wild Gallery follows a simple concept: customers shall always receive the highest quality. From beginning to end. This starts with the artists and ends when receiving the Certificate of Authenticity for your piece of art. In between there lies a lot of work –but we take care of the rest. To us and our customers all these single top features are caught by the expression: Museum Quality
Buying art is a matter of trust. And it also is an investment with a high potential of return. Hence, for every picture you buy, you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). We use the recognized Hahnemühle system, in which a non-removable hologram is placed on the back of the picture and comes with a unique number on a worldwide level. The twin-hologram with the same number you will find on the COA, so that identity is ensured between the artwork and the certificate.
The certificate bears the signature of the artist. With this signature he confirms that the picture has been made by him, has been printed according to his vision for that artwork, regarding colors, shades, tones, paper and print quality.
STRICTLY LIMITED EDITIONS – WORLDWIDE
Photography based art is subject to the same criteria as any other kind of art. There is a particularity that characterizes photography: a photographic piece of art could theoretically be reproduced an unlimited number of times. Exactly as for lithography or wood-printing. For this reason, the limitation of editions is very important. So a photographic piece of art becomes an original only when it holds a unique number worldwide. Whichever artist you choose, you will share your favorite piece of art only with a very limited and exclusive circle of connoisseurs and art enthusiasts in the world. This is what we guarantee.
